Well it looks like the team talk last night worked. Everyone is awake (including Pam) and Rory is already grinning and in his Pirate babygro. At last this is the well drilled part – wake, shower, apply deodrant (hey its last time i will smell fresh today), trisuit on, P20 all visible parts, trisuit off, porridge, trisuit on, re-P20, lube all moving parts (and most of the non-moving ones too), dress, travel to lake, start the longest day.

It is pitch black but warmish outside so at this stage no changes to race attire but will take some back up to the lake with me. I have been preparing for this for two and a half years so I should know what to do now.

Thanks to everyone for their kind wishes last night. I guess i should have switched the buzzer off on my phone but I was wide awake anyway until about one o’clock. Regensburg clashing with Skyfest meant that i should have realised there would be a few late messages – for what its worth i’m glad Texas were good, i’m sorry it rained – its not like i had anything to do with the date was it?

Over to Pam and the Farkies for insightful race reportage for the rest of the day.
