The Longest Day

If you were watching Ironman Live and didn’t see me finishing – don’t despair Ironman Dead was simply living up to it’s name. I had a great swim and bike (for me) but back, stomach and feet problems made it a very difficult marathon – I could say I just wanted to finish in the dark but my pacing isn’t that good. The atmosphere was fantastic from the crowds 4 or 5 deep in the old town with their cowbells to the party aid station at the end of the lake. And the finishing chute is a memory that will never fade.

I will write a race report while it is still fresh in my mind but my priorities for right now are breakfast, shower, being an Irondad and then getting to the Pirate Party.

At the moment I hurt and the memories of the low spots are still fresh in the mind. The mental scars will fade and the physical scars will be covered by the the late summer sun but I will always be an Ironman.
